Privacy, in
plain language.

Syntheremin Instrument runs on your device. Here is exactly what the camera feed is used for, and what never leaves your phone.

Effective August 6, 2026

The short version: no account, no app servers, no ads, and the microphone is never requested. The camera exists to track your hands, live.

The camera

Syntheremin Instrument uses the front camera to track your hands and turn movement into pitch and volume. Camera frames and depth data exist only inside the live capture pipeline while you play: the app does not write them to disk, save them to your photo library, or upload them. Hand-landmark data is transient and discarded as it is processed.

On your device

Your settings and any recordings you choose to make are stored locally. Recordings capture the synthesizer's own audio output — not the microphone, which the app never requests permission for. Syntheremin Instrument has no account system and no server of its own.

Hand-tracking SDK

Hand tracking uses Google's MediaPipe framework, which processes your camera input on the device. Google states that MediaPipe may transmit performance and utilization metrics (not your camera content) to Google; this behavior belongs to the SDK and is governed by Google's own terms and privacy notices.

Analytics, advertising, and tracking

Syntheremin Instrument adds no third-party advertising, no cross-app tracking, and no analytics SDK of its own. The public website may process basic connection data such as IP addresses in ordinary request logs; it does not use analytics or advertising cookies.

Changes

We may update this policy as Syntheremin Instrument changes. The effective date above identifies the current version.
